Increasing population numbers, a changing climate, intensive agricultural practices, economic growth and urbanisation will undoubtedly continue to make the issue of water scarcity a global priority for years to come. As a part of the solution, various techniques are available to counter this water scarcity problem. Traditional water treatment methods include physical separation techniques for particle removal; biological and chemical treatments to remove suspended solids, organic matter and dissolved pollutants or toxins; and evaporative techniques and other physical and mechanical methods.

          Scales forms when the concentration of dissolved minerals exceeds its solubility limit and the mineral precipitates. Scale can be a problem in equipment used in many types of industrial operations utilizing an aqueous system. These aqueous system (containing water) including but not limited to reverse osmosis, cooling water, boiler water, desalination, gas scrubbers, blast furnaces, sewage sludge thermal conditioning equipment, evaporators, paper processing, mining circuits and the like wherein such systems are operated under harsh conditions of temperature and pH.

          Continuous running of reverse osmosis plant has a detrimental effect on membrane performance causing pore blockage of membrane and pressure rise. Our specifically designed multiple use antiscalant can control individual scaling species. Our antiscalants work at a sub-stoichiometric level by one or more closely inter-related mechanisms of threshold inhibition, crystal distortion and dispersion. It is highly effective for scales of calcium, magnesium,sulphate, carbonate, bicarbonate, iron, silica and even biological fouling.

          Boiler scale is caused by impurities being precipitated out of the water directly on heat transfer surfaces or by suspended matter in water settling out on the metal and becoming hard and adherent. Common feed water contaminants that can form boiler deposits include calcium, magnesium, iron, aluminium, and silica. Scale is formed by salts that have limited solubility but are not totally insoluble in boiler water.These salts reach the deposit site in a soluble form and precipitate. If unchecked, scaling causes progressive lowering of the boiler efficiency by heat retardation, acting as an insulator. Eventually, scale built-up will cause the tube to overheat and rupture.

          Poor water maintenance of cooling tower may cause scaling formation, corrosion and biological fouling which drastically hamper the performance and reduces efficiency of the system.
